Ms Marja Artamaa was born in Helsinki, Finland. She joined the Theosophical Society in 1978 and is a member of the third generation. As a profession, she is a retired ICT (Information and Communication Technology) professional, having worked for 39 years in software companies, leading projects in Finland, Estonia, and Latvia.

She has worked for the TS in several capacities in Finland for the Lodge and Finnish Section and its Editorial. She revived the Theosophical Order of Service in 2008 in Finland. She was the General Secretary of the Finnish Section for 8 years until in 2014 the International President Tim Boyd invited her to be the International Secretary for the TS in Adyar.

She has been planning and organizing together with team members many events, for example the European Congress and Centenary of the Finnish Section in Helsinki in 2007, nine International Conventions in Adyar, and the World Congress in Singapore in 2018. Next World Congress will be in Vancouver, Canada, in 2025.

Marja has been also a board member of the Council of the Naarden International Theosophical Centre (ITC) in the Netherlands for 14 years (until 2009), and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Federation from 1987 being its Treasurer from 1998 until 2014.

Marja thinks that every task that there is for theosophy, is a chance to serve and to learn more.
